Building Student Resiliency

DESCRIPTION:
Many students returning to classrooms this spring and next year will have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), such as physical and emotional abuse, neglect and household dysfunction, during their extended time of remote instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. This session provided educators with tools to work with students experiencing ACEs. Using these tools, resilient students will be better equipped to focus in class, which can lead to increased learning outcomes. Building resilient students is one way to meet the needs of the whole child in an educational setting the rest of this school year and beyond. This webinar was Presented by Dr. Karen Jones – a member of the NCASA Board of Directors – and Dr. Travis Lewis, both of East Carolina University.
