Mission, Goals & Structure of NCASA

OUR MISSION

Our mission is ensuring student success through visionary leadership. NCASA provides three key pillars of support to NC school leaders:

ADVOCACY

NCASA’s lobbyists provide experienced, non-partisan advocacy for school leaders in all aspects of NC law and policy development by the General Assembly, Governor’s Office, State Board of Education, State Retirement System, State Health Plan and Other Policy-Making Entities. Other services include legislation analysis, bill tracking, timely updates, member calls to action, and summaries of key changes.

COMMUNICATIONS

NCASA provides comprehensive up-to-date communications that inform school leaders on news and education developments they need to know through the following resources:

  • Informative, interactive mobile-friendly website.
  • To-the-minute reports during legislative/policy meetings via @NCASATweets.
  • Presentations to school districts and affiliates upon request.
  • FREE member webinars for timely updates and hot topics.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

NCASA offers top-notch conferences and webinars at discounted rates each year to help members stay current on educational leadership practices and to maintain their licensure. Participants receive CEU credits for all events, including the annual Conference on Educational Leadership, School Law and Policy Symposium, and Hot-Topic Webinars. Principals and Superintendents also receive discounted rates for offerings through our core affiliates – the NC Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association and the NC School Superintendents’ Association.

We help NC school administrators LEAD their schools and districts, INSPIRE their staff to pursue excellence in public education, and help their students ACHIEVE success for college, careers, and life.

OUR GOALS

NCASA supports our members through our focus on two key goals:

  1. Providing a definitive voice in law and policy development affecting the daily operations of K-12 public schools across the state, and
  2. Enhancing their professional growth as visionary educational leaders.

OUR STRUCTURE

NCASA was founded in 1976 to unite all facets of public-school administration around the common mission of ensuring student success through visionary leadership. We revamped our structure in 2005 to become an umbrella organization through collaboration with the following 12 affiliates:

Our organization is governed by a Board of Directors that includes a President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President and two members from each of the affiliated school administrator groups. We are the only organization in North Carolina that supports superintendents, all central office administrators, principals, assistant principals, and professors of educational leadership.
